The Czech Experience in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) workshop was held in Sarajevo on 13 December 2018 with an aim of presenting best practices of Czech Republic in implementation of SDGs and advancement of the global Agenda2030 to members of the SDG Roll-out Working Group and SDG Private Sector Working Group.
“We have become so much interconnected through communication technologies, value chains and financial systems, that these challenges don´t know national borders and can´t be faced by one or a bunch of countries. That is why we need to work together to find solutions that are sustainable and durable, and that recognize our interdependence – with each other, and with all life on Earth”, said H.E. Jakub Skalnik, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Czech experts and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Association of Social Responsibility of the Czech Republic presented their experience with the SDG framework, preparation of the Voluntary National Report and the organization of the SDG Award as well as the roles of civil society organizations and participatory local governance in Agenda2030 with the members of the SDG working groups, representatives of UN Agencies and civil society organizations in BiH.
“Today’s workshop and the contribution of the colleagues from the Czech Republic is both very timely and extremely valuable. Process of drafting of the BiH Voluntary National Report has been started and draft will be widely consulted in March 2019. UN Country Team is honoured to have an opportunity to support institutions in BiH with this demanding and complex process and all involved have every reason to be proud of the results achieved to date”, said H. E. Sezin Sinanoglu, UN Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The workshop which was co-hosted by the UN Country Team and the Embassy of the Czech Republic was held as part of the SDGs Roll-out and Private Sector Engagement project funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
