The SDG Business Pioneers Award ceremony is the final event of the annual SDG Business Pioneers competition for 2021, which aims to promote private sector efforts in the field of sustainable development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2021 we will declare the third generation of SDG Business Pioneers.

The SDG Business Pioneers Award recognizes and accentuates the efforts of private sector companies related to achieving the SDGs in BiH as well as motivates new entrepreneurs to create their business models in accordance with the SDGs. It is organized under the project “SDGs Roll-Out Support and Private Sector engagement” which is implemented by the UNDP in BiH, and funded by Sweden.

The methodology for evaluating applications was developed based on the methodology of the UN Global Compact and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and adapted to the local context.

Be a leader!

Awarded companies will be recognized and will receive the “SDG Business Pioneers Award in BiH 2021 – Winner” trophy.

Lead a trend!

All finalists and the winners will receive e-packs with the logos “Winner/Finalist – SDG Business Pioneer in BiH 2021” and will be authorized to use the SDG Business Pioneers Award “seal” in their business communication and on e-platforms.

Promote your results!

UNDP will promote all finalists via communication channels, during event promotions, and on social networks!

Embrace the business opportunity!

12,000,000,000,000 USD (yes, 12 trillion!) are the estimated market opportunities opened by the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

(report by the Business and Sustainable Development Commission Better Business, Better World).

Show your progress!

The application process is structured to follow GRI standards and provide “blueprint” basis to companies for their first reports on the state of implementation of Sustainable Development Goals at the company level. Be among the first companies to have annual sustainability report!

Be a part of a global story!

The information about the winners in each category will be shared with the UN Global Compact network, for the purpose of possible selection for the Global SDG Awards (https://www.globalsdgawards.com). The finalists and the winners will be promoted at the major UN and UNDP events during 2021/2022.

SDGs are an opportunity!

12,000,000,000,000 USD (yes, 12 trillion!) are the estimated market opportunities opened by the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

Themes

Companies can apply for the award for the theme “People” and/or for the award for the theme “Resources and Environment”.

People – New and Decent Jobs

The SDG Business Pioneers Award 2021 in this theme will be awarded to companies that inspire others in the way they treat their employees and clients and create decent jobs (SDG 8 and SDG 10). Understanding the consequences of the pandemic, particular spotlight will be turned on companies that lead in the employment of youth, women, highly qualified staff, and employees coming from vulnerable groups (SDG 5). The award will also promote breadth and depth in the sales and supply chain (SDG 9), community relations, as well as ethical business and solutions that lead to company-wide zero-corruption policies (SDG 16).

Resources and Environment

The SDG Business Pioneers Award 2021 in this theme will be awarded to companies that put focus on the decarbonization process and actively reduce their environmental footprint, as well as to those that purposefully and continuously improve their value chains (SDG 12 and SDG 9) and actively contribute to the development of their communities. Development, new technologies, and the in-house innovation process (SDG 5 and SDG 11) will be rewarded.
