The first Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in 2021. SDG Week is an initiative that developed out of the SDG Business Week, as an effort to raise awareness on sustainable development in all sectors of the bh. society.

Two events held on the first day of the SDG Week promoted the adopted SDG Framework for BiH and the role of the Council for the implementation of SDGs in BiH. A dialogue on the importance of social protection in the context of SDGs in BiH was held in a panel discussion later the same day.

„Future Talks: The Future of Work“ was an event organised on 5 October 2021, in hybrid format. “Future Talks” were a series of virtual conversations conducted by the UNDP Accelerator Lab in Bosnia and Herzegovina to collect unique perspectives and forward-thinking solutions to pressing issues of our time, assisting in imagining a brighter and more sustainable future. This Future Talks session presented emerging approaches that re-imagine the world of work.

On the third day of the SDG Week, 6 October, the conference “Greening the Economy” was held, also in hybrid format. The aim of the event was to bring together businesses and financial institutions to discuss what a green transition entails for the private sector and to deepen the understanding of the benefits of investing in green solutions. Private sector and the financial institutions discussed the advantages of a green economy, but also the status of green finance in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event „Future of Education: Universities 4.0“, was held on 7 October, and it involved young people and students in a dialogue on new directions and tools that education needs to embrace for sustainable living and work. The principal partners of the event were Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) and The School of Economics and Business of University of Sarajevo, in cooperation with other public universities in BIH.

The SDG week closed with the signing of the Pledge for Sustainable Development. The previous winners of the SDG Business Pioneer Awards 2019-2021 will be offered to sign the Pledge inspired by similar action in Sweden, showing their commitment to sustainable development and inspiring others.
